Sanctum Café Grand Opening

A new gathering place is coming to North Street. Sanctum Café, located within Pittsfield’s historic Shipton Building, celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, September 19, bringing together food, conversation, music, art, and community under one roof.
The café serves sweet and savory crêpes, bagels and bagel sandwiches, yogurt, cereal, smoothies, and other breakfast and lunch fare, with Thursday and Friday evenings extending into an espresso bar and pastries alongside exhibitions, films, and workshops at Sanctum Gallery next door.
Music runs throughout opening day, with performances by Terry Keevil on dudek, improvisational musician Matt Swift, and singer-songwriter Philip Shaver, honoring the spirit of the International Day of Peace (observed worldwide September 21).
Guests are invited, though not required, to bring a stone that holds meaning for them, or choose one on arrival — together, the stones become a shared symbol of intention and community. In the gallery, guests can also write an intention, a wish, or the name of someone they’d like held in thought.
Sanctum Café is part of a larger vision shared with Sanctum Gallery upstairs and Healing Hearts Sanctuary in Worthington — an interconnected community where food nourishes the body, art awakens creativity, music brings people together, and nature offers space to reconnect.
